Meet Dr. Alex Montague

Dr. Montague

Combining attention to detail and skillful technique—traits he learned while training under Dr. Vito Quatela at the Quatela Center for Hair Restoration in Rochester, NY—Dr. Montague mastered the hair transplantation procedure alongside our expert providers. Dr. Montague understands hair loss can undermine a person’s confidence. He provides the compassion hair restoration patients from Buffalo, Syracuse, and surrounding cities appreciate at our practice.

Education and Training

As an Ashland, Kentucky, native, Dr. Montague graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky in Lexington with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He continued his studies at the University of Louisville School of Medicine to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree. During his undergraduate and graduate schooling, he received several scholarships and was voted Most Outstanding Chemical Engineering Junior. In 2012, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

After completing a 5-year residency at West Virginia University Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in Morgantown, West Virginia, he came to the Quatela Center to complete his American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship under Dr. Quatela. During this time, he developed expertise in facial plastic surgery and worked with Dr. Quatela to build his skills performing the various hair restoration procedures we offer.

Besides being certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Montague is also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Service and Leadership Activities

Dr. Montague has a long track record of giving back to the community on a local and a global scale. Throughout his education, he participated as a volunteer, tutor, and mentor for various programs, churches, and hospitals. He has performed oral cancer screenings in the community, spent time with pediatric cancer patients, and helped fellow students in various capacities. He has served on numerous committees, including those that organized student-run clinics to ensure excellent patient care, as well as educational opportunities for medical students.

Dr. Montague has traveled with the HUGS Foundation to address microtia, a congenital ear issue, by reconstructing ears for children in Guatemala, Ecuador, and Vietnam.

Staying Active Outside the Practice

Dr. Montague enjoys the outdoors and participates in numerous activities, including fly-fishing, kayaking, skiing, hiking, and various sports. He likes to travel, visit with his family and friends, and spend time with his wife, whom he met during his fellowship at the Quatela Center.
